"Wine is the most civilized thing in the world"

ERNEST HEMMINGWAY

Why should I swirl wine in my glass before I drink it?

By swirling your wine, oxygen is invited into the glass, which allows the aromas to escape.

New Arrivals Spring/Summer 2010

Jamón Ibérico: Dry cured Iberico pork ham

In the dehesas, an indigenous forest of southwestern Spain, the Ibérico pig, a descendent of the wild boar, still wanders free. Popularly known as the Pata Negra, or Black Hoof, the Ibérico, with its diet of acorns and other naturally growing plants of the dehesa, is responsible for the unsurpassed taste and quality of the traditional Dry-cured hams and sausages of Spain.

Bonterra "Organic" Chardonnay

Mendocino County, California

A hint of oak complements the freshness of fruit and the evident notes of green apple, pear and citrus. Our wine is aged for several months to develop a rich, creamy texture that gracefully balances its fruit-forward character.

Broadbent Vinho Verde

Portugal

Vinho Verde, the most popular white wine from Portugal, is a deliciously refreshing, light wine with gentle spritz. “Verde”, meaning “green” refers to the hints of lime color.  Broadbent Vinho Verde is the only Vinho Verde imported on a refrigerated container. The result is the freshest tasting Vinho Verde on the market. An ideal warm weather wine, excellent for lunch and picnics, this wine is equally as lovely as an evening aperitif. It makes a brilliant pairing with any fish, shell fish and poultry. "Is the world’s greatest pairing for a Caesar salad" according to wine writer Jordan MacKay. The label was painted by Alice, the niece, of Bartholomew Broadbent, when she was four.

The grapes in are 50% Loureiro, 40% Trajadura and 10% Pedernã [aka Arinto]

Balletto Pinot Noir
Russian River Valley, Sonoma County, California

This dark-garnet colored Pinot Noir showcases classic Pinot aromas. There are beautiful outlying spice components of cardamom, fresh pine forest, new leather, delicate vanilla and a touch of toasted oak spice, all of which sit upon the core aromas of black cherry, raspberry and cola. The fragrance alone is intoxicating. The wine is highly textured and is structured around its cool-climate pie-cherry tartness - a hallmark of growing Pinot in the cold southern end of the Russian River Valley. Subtle tannins and astringency fill out the mouth feel and complete the wine. Our estate Pinot will benefit from cellar aging during the next five to seven years. This exceptional wine is balanced and complex and will pair beautifully with rack or leg of lamb, braised pork or salmon.

Gerard Bertrand Pinot Noir
Sud de France, France

This 100% Pinot Noir comes from the coolest altitude vineyards in the region. It opens to reveal bright cherry fruit and wild raspberry flavors, notes of nutmeg and brown spice with silky tannins, and an elegant, balanced finish.

De Loach Pinot Noir
California

Ripe raspberries lift from the glass and mingle with tempting aromas of strawberry-rhubarb tart and cola. Delicate notes of anise, cardamom and gingerbread spice lace the fruit to unfold a rich palate of black cherries supported by medium-fine-grained tannins. The finish lingers with attractive, subtle, toasty undertones, fine acid and excellent balance.

Poppy Pinot Noir
Monterey County, California

Wine by Joe Pinot Noir
Oregon

Listen to the fine and enticing "snap-crack" of the seal as you twist it off. Put the Band-Aids back in the medicine cabinet... this aint no cork sealed wine. This wine slips into your mouth with gorgeous rich blackberry aromas with a touch of leather, too. The flavors mirror the aromas with a soft and velvety mouthfeel which wraps around your tongue delivering the impression of sweetness from the soft ripe tannins. I know what you are thinking... How can Joe deliver such a good Oregon Pinot Noir for the money you are asking!!?? Yes, I know, you want to drink more...

WINES FOR SUMMER

gran Verano Sauvignon Blanc, Central Valley, Chile
La Linda Torrontes, Mendoza, Argentina
Domaine Felines Jourdan Picpoul de Pinet, Languedoc, France

This Sauvignon Blanc has an appealing green-yellow color with floral notes intermingled with tropical fruits. The fresh and citrusy finish on the palate makes this wine dry, refreshing and crisp.

Clear yellow-greenish color. Floral aromas related to  rose globeflower and some lavender. The first impression in mouth is sweet with balanced acidity, white peaches are perceived and hints of sugar coated orange skin. Excellent balance between floral and fruity characteristics.

100% piquepoul. A clear yellow coloured wine with green highlights. Full-flavoured with aromas of flowers, citrus fruits, aniseed and fennel. In the mouth, the typical acidity of Picpoul de Pinet. Very fresh, its originality comes from its volume and mellowness, and also from its long persistance (about 7-8 seconds). The vineyards, aged of 5 to 25 years, are situated on our three terroirs. Each one gives his typicity. Félines, the citrus notes and the freshness of the balance. La Coulette, the aniseed and fennel aromas and the roundness. Les Cadastres, the exotic fruits and flowers aromas. By blending Piquepoul from those three terroirs, we have created our Picpoul de Pinet.

J Vineyards Pinot Gris, Russian River Valley, California
La Poule Blanche, Vine de Pays D'OC, France
Girard Chardonnay, Russian River Valley, California

The 2008 J Vineyards Pinot Gris has an enticing bouquet of white peach, orange blossom and honeysuckle, with hints of mango and jasmine. This well-balanced, multi-layered wine is a great companion to a variety of foods.

This is a wine with an expressive bouquet; aromas of white flowers, green apple, peach and mango. It’s round and smooth and may appear deceptively simple on the palate, but you will find flavors of pear and lemon with a hint of minerality mingling with vanilla on the finish.

The French oak aging on our 2008 Russian River Chardonnay, offers up wonderful aroma of vanilla; blending in with these warm aromas are bright scents of tropical and citrus fruits. On the palate, Meyer lemon, peach and melon are balanced by a creamy texture from sur lie aging.

Tolosa Chardonnay, Edna Ranch, Edna Valley, California
Charles Bove Vouvray, Loire Valley, France

A pale gold color is as usual the harbinger of quality. The aroma is warm and evokes honey on toast. The fruit character is towards lemon with a hint of minerality.  The textures in the mouth are more like Chablis than California with a pleasant grippiness. There is the classic note of roasted hazelnut in the background.

100% Chenin Blanc. This dry to soft wine comes from the area of VOuvray in the heart of the Touraine (Central Loire Valley). Excellent as an aperitif it will also perfectly fit with fish, seafood, poultry and generally with any creamy or saffron sauce.
